Please peruse our class offerings for November. We hope you find something that piques your interest and challenges you as an artist! Remember that we also offer private lessons for individuals and small groups. Please call us or stop by if you need any coaching or guidance with your projects! Saartje’s Booties

 

Wednesday, November 11 and 18, 6-8 pm Once you start making these booties, you can’t stop. They make a wonderful last-minute gift. Learn how to make an adorable pair of baby shoes in this class with Hannah. The booties are entirely knit - no purls to speak of! Basic seaming will transform your flat piece of knitting into a little shoe. Participants should be comfortable with knitting basics: casting on, binding off, knitting. $25 + cost of supplies

Beginning Knitting Saturday, November 14th & 21st, 3-5pm

 

If you’ve never picked up needles before, you’re a little rusty and want some review, or you want an opportunity to work on a simple project with a coach, this is the class for you! Join Regan for this two-part introduction to knitting. You’ll learn about casting on and binding off, knitting and purling, changing colors and seaming. Part of the class is instruction on how to select yarn and compatible needles, so you may purchase all materials at the time of class. Your final product with be a cozy pair of fingerless mitts. You’ll leave the class confident and prepared to embark on further knitting adventures. Enroll with a friend! $25 + cost of supplies
 

Introduction to Needle Felting: Making Ornaments Sunday, November 22, 2-4pm Discover how to exploit the properties of wool and the mechanics of felting to create a 3D figure/object of your choice and a Christmas ornament (or a festive orb - depending on your holiday persuasion). Erica will teach you how to take roving (unspun wool) or any wool yarn and create beautiful felted pieces with a barbed needle. Needle felting can be used to add accents to knitwear, cloth or felted accessories. We’ll show you the basics, then how to use needle felting in projects such as bags or clothing. $30, materials included, no experience necessary.

Uncomplicated Shawlette

 

Tuesday, November 10 and 17, 6-8pm

This super-easy, super-quick shawl is knit from the neck down. Work with a thinner yarn and bigger needles for a lacey effect, thicker yarn for something cozy and warm, or experiment with colors and make it striped - we’ll help you explore these options. Since it is constructed from the neck down, you can make it as long or short as you’d like. The shawlette is all garter stitch so once again, there’s no purls to speak of! You’ll learn a popular set-up seen in neck-down shawls and how to make eyelets. It’s fast, fun, and makes a wonderful gift (for yourself or another). Participants must know how to cast on and off, and knit, $25 + cost of supplies.

Double Knitting Scarf or Potholder Monday, November 23 and 30, 6- 8pm Double knitting allows you to make flat-lying pieces that are stockinette stitch on both sides, wonderful for scarves and belts. It also produces a double layered fabric, great for cozy items. Heather will guide you through making a double knit scarf or a potholder - you can pick a smaller size project or something a bit larger. Either way, this will make a great gift. You’ll be able to choose from a several different designs - just a few are seen below. Participants must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off. $25 + cost of supplies.

Tropical Depression Beanie

 

Saturday, November 14 and 21, 12-2pm Tired of knitting flat projects? Move into 3-D realm with this handsome hat.You’ll learn to knit in the round using circular needles and how to decrease & shape the crown using double pointed needles. The distinctive swirling pattern is achieved using an increase stitch. It makes a great gift for the upcoming holiday season. Participants must know how to cast on, knit and purl for this class, $25.

Design Your Own Class

 

Want a class that you haven’t seen on our class schedule? Do you have a friend that wants to take it with you?
1. Pick a topic, pattern, or project you would like to have a class for.
2. Find a few friends, co-workers, or family members to take it with you.
3. Contact us by email hannah.woolybully@gmail.com with the following information: who, what, and when.
4. We will work with you and let you know about how many hours we think the class will take and find a teacher.

 

A note about classes

 

- There is a minimum of two students in each class.

 

- In order to guarantee your placement in a class full payment is required upon registration.
- All student cancellations must be received no later than 48 hours before your class meets and you will be placed in the next available session or given a refund in the form of a store gift card.
- In the case of a last-minute cancellation or a no-show we will be unable to issue a refund. - We reserve the right to cancel a class in the event of instructor illness, low enrollment, and other emergency situations, issuing you a refund in the form of a store gift card. It’s a wonderful opportunity to acquire new skills, explore foreign concepts and materials, and make new friends.
