Fair Isle Christmas Stocking
Tuesday, August 17, 24, 31 6-8pm

This year is different - I’m making my own! Join Hannah and Erica and create a (soon-to-be) heirloom Fair Isle Christmas Stocking. This is a great project to learn Fair Isle color work. You’ll become familiar with interpreting color work charts and learn how to design your own fair isle stitch pattern. The stocking has similar construction to a sock and you’ll learn how to make an "Afterthought Heel." You’ll also feel so virtuous! Intro to Continental Knitting
Saturday, August 14, 2-4pm

While every style of knitting has its own merits and weaknesses, there are some differences that set Continental knitting apart. Continental knitting requires fewer hand movements to form each stitch and can potentially be more efficient - especially for stockinette in the round! Continental knitting utilizes different muscles and postures which can lessen strain and problems associated with repetitive stress. It’s also a helpful skill when doing stranded colorwork.
$15, bring some worsted weight, pale colored yarn and appropriately sized straight needles, and some 16" circulars (sized for working with worsted weight yarn)

Learn to Crochet
Saturday, August 21 and 28, 12-2pm

Learn the basics of crochet in 2 sessions with Jamie. This class is perfect for knitters who would like to add some basic crochet to their arsenal - (think seaming, borders). Crochet comes in handy with lots of knitting projects but it’s also a fantastic and practical stand-alone craft. No experience, no problem, $30.

Introduction to Estonian Lace
Saturday, Aug. 21 and Sept. 4, 3-5pm

Nancy Bush’s latest book Knitted Lace of Estonia has spurred a great interest in the handicraft. Join Maria to for a brief history of this Estonia handcraft, centered around the seaside village of Haapsalu. Estonianpatterns popularize the nupp technique, creation of a small flower bud
Maria will cover interesting textural accents (nupps and more) and help you choose a design motif. Estonian lace often features gorgeous edgings, and you’ll see how stitches for the edging are picked up around the shawl and then worked all around, away from the shawl. There’s also a wildly elastic bind-off that eliminates the need to tie off your yarn. This should not be the participants’ first lace project. We’d like you to be somewhat familiar with the lace knitting (beginners - check out the 5 Points Shawl class with Erica!). $30.

2 Toe Up Socks - knit at the same time!
Wednesday, Aug. 11, 18, and Sept. 1, 6-8pm

Forever eliminate the scourge of SSS, Second Sock Syndrome! Maria, Wooly Bully’s guru on this technique, will teach you how to work 2 socks simultaneously on 1 long circular needle starting from the toe up. Why two at once? It’s easier to match patterns when using self-striping yarn and you’re guaranteed two socks that are more or less the same size. Since you’ll be working them from the toe-up there’s no risk of running out of yarn! Maria will have a stitch pattern that you can work the socks in to make the project a little tangy, but you can also stick to basics with a utilitarian rib. This class will meet three times.
Note: Participants should already familiar with basic sock construction, $45.
Supplies: 100g fingering weight yarn, one 40" or 47" circular needle in your preferred sock knitting size, probably size US 0-3 (to get desired gauge with fingering weight)

Love the yarn above? It’s called Unisono and it’s divine!

Greetings Friends!

Just in time to usher in the new season, Spring yarns have started arriving at the shop: Ruca (100% sugarcane), Antu (100% cotton), and Chaiten (100% silk) from Araucania, Ty-Dy Cotton, and Sekku, a new lace-weight from Noro. Other new arrivals include Alpaca Lace (love!) and Ecological Wool from Cascade, more colors of Noro’s Silk Garden and Silk Garden Sock.
In the coming weeks we’re expecting new handpaints from Punta Yarns and Lorna’s Laces. Come in to see something new and fresh but be sure to check out our sale items. More is being added as new merchandise arrives. If you’ve been restraining yourself, Classic Elite Lush (50 angora/50 merino) and Alpaca with a Twist Baby Twist are now on sale - 30% OFF. Seize the moment - you deserve it!

Crochet a Clapochet
Saturday, March 13 and 27, 3-5 pm
The crocheted Clapochet is worked on the diagonal, with chain spaces peppered throughout to create a texture similar to the original Clapotis. If variegated yarn is used, it will stripe with the texture and the final result is just as versatile as the original in that it may be scrunched up and worn as a scarf or spread out and worn as a shawl. This is a great project for advanced beginner crocheters wanting to expand on their skills.
Materials: 650 yds worsted weight yarn, G-J hook - ~500 yds fingering weight yarn, C-F hook
May we suggest… Araucania Ruca (100% sugar cane) or Araucania Chaiten (100% silk), Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock or Noro Silk Garden Sock

Be forewarned, when your friends and family see your completed beanie, they’ll certainly want one too.

Learn to Crochet
Sunday, March 14 and 21, 3-5pm
Learn the basics of crochet in 2 sessions with Jamie. This class is perfect for knitters who would like to add some basic crochet to their arsenal. Crochet comes in handy with lots of knitting projects but it’s also a fantastic and practical stand-alone craft. No experience, no problem, $30.

Supplies: 100g feltable 100% wool worsted weight yarn such as Cascade 220 or Noro Kureyon, size F or G crochet hook.

Entrelac Socks
 Saturday, March 20 and 27, 12-2pm
Entrelac - French for interwoven. Join Hannah and Maria for this tangy sock class, the next project in our Year of Socks.  Entrelac creates the illusion of knitted bands woven like a basket.
Entrelac is so intriguing - is it woven? Is it seamed? No! This technique is not only fun to work but creates a striking finished effect that is certainly worth the effort. This project can involve lots of turning so we’ll learn a trick that will always keep the right side facing you, eliminating the need to turn.
We ask that participants have experience making socks. Beginners should look for a Learn to Knit Socks class that will be offered in the future, $30.
Supplies: 100g fingering weight yarn, dpn/2circs/1 really long circ needle(s) US 1-3

May we suggest… A yarn that has long color repeats really shows off the entrelac patterning. Noro Silk Garden Sock, Jojoland Melody Superwash, and Knit 1 Crochet Too’s Ty-Dy Sock are all excellent choices.

Knitting 911!
Disaster Recovery + Crisis Management
Knitting 911! Saturday, March 20 , 3-5pm
Just when you think all is lost and your only recourse is to rip it all out, relax - there is a better way. The purpose of this class is to learn how to identify errors and correct them.
Topics to be covered include: dealing with dropped and twisted stitches, tinking and frogging, encountering too many or too few stitches, complications with your cables, and even correcting your lacework. While knowing how to correct mistakes is quite an achievement on its own, we’ll teach you a few tricks to keep them from happening in the first place. We’ll have a series of swatches ready for you to work on, $20.
Bring a crochet hook (something like a US size D or E) and size US 7 needles (straights, circs, your choice), and a little patience.

World’s Largest Knitted Poem
The Poetry Society rolled out its giant centenary poem at the British Library, London, on 7 October 2009. Revealed in its full glory, the eye-popping, 13 x 9 metre, hand-knitted version of Dylan Thomas’s ‘In my Craft or Sullen Art’ stopped passers-by in their tracks and quickly drew an admiring crowd. The poem is the work of more than one thousand knitters and crocheters worldwide, who furiously clicked needles and hooks throughout September, to turn the individual letters of Thomas’s poem into colourful 12-inch squares.

Colorwork Socks
Tuesday, October 13 + 20, 6-8 pm

Do you like owls? Do you like socks? Then what could be better than Owl Socks?
In this class, we will look at various techniques for knitting with two colors, as you create a tangy pair of owl socks. You’ll learn how to follow a chart. Knitting stranded colorwork for socks (Fair Isle technique) can be tricky, because it is a less elastic fabric than a regular knit. In this class, we will discuss strategies for compensating for this lack of elasticity and how to keep your tension even.
Students need to know how to knit socks and be able to knit in the round, $25.

Hoooo will these be for??

Lizard Ridge Block

We’ll get you started on your first Lizard Ridge Block - it can be the first installment towards a blanket, a trivet, or make another and you have a pillow! The legendary Lizard Ridge Blanket is worked incrementally, block by block. We’ll create the unique, wavy pattern with short rows and changing yarns. After knitting the square takes on a bumpy, egg crate-like appearance. We’ll practive several blocking techniques that will come in handy for smoothing your Lizard Ridge Block and be useful with many other knitted projects we well. Most often, the blocks are knit with Noro Kureyon, known for their amazing color combos. This pattern takes advantage of their lengthy color runs for an stunning effect. Note: participants must know how to cast on and bind off, knit and purl, $20.

If you are participating in our Block of the Month class, you won’t want to miss out on this session!  You’ll learn how to crochet around each block to create a unified color palette. Log Cabin Washcloths
Saturday, October 24, 3-5pm

The basic Log Cabin method is to start with a central patch, and attach strips around it in concentric layers. After you’ve done a few layers, a pattern emerges that resembles the construction of a log cabin, in which the logs are notched so that they interlock at the corners. You’ll get to play with fun color combos and learn about picking up stitches.

The Log Cabin design is sweet with a vintage flair. Knit all in garter stitch, the process is rhythmic and soothing. This is a great project for newbies just starting out and veterans who seem to return to it again and again. A trio (or quartet) of these washcloths would make a lovely gift along with some handmade soap. Particpants must know how to cast on, bind off, and knit, $20.

Additionally, you’ll learn how to create your own colorful designs for future projects. Even if you aren’t working towards an entire afghan, this workshop with Erica will be a wonderful introduction to the intarsia method! $20.

Afghans for Afghans

As in years past, we will once again be participating in the Afghans for Afghans charity/philanthropy this Fall. afghans for Afghans is a humanitarian and educational people-to-people project that sends hand-knit and crocheted blankets and sweaters, vests, hats, mittens, and socks to the people of Afghanistan. Wooly Bully plans to collect these hand knit items and wrap them up and send them to the aforA headquarters. This is a perfect opportunity to tear through your personal yarn stash. Specific guidelines can be found on the afghans for Afghans website. Please read over them carefully.

Wooly Bully is offering you an incentive to participate - for every item turned in you will receive a chance to win a drawing for a set of HiyaHiya Interchangeable Needles and two skeins of 100% Cashmere yarn (you pick the color!). If you contribute larger items, you will have your name entered for the drawing in proportion to the size and scope of the item turned in. (yes, a pair of socks or mittens counts as just one item)

As an adjunct to collecting hand knit items, we plan on raffling off a Lizard Ridge Blanket. We will be receiving knitted Lizard Ridge Squares (from those of you wishing to make one) and then some Wooly Bullies will block them, arrange them, and seam up the blanket.
- For every Lizard Ridge square turned in we will give you a coupon for $5 off your next purchase of $25 or more.
It’s imperative we receive your blocks no later than Wednesday, September 30th, so we’re given adequate time to seam the squares and assemble a gorgeous Lizard Ridge Blanket.
- Noro Kureyon or Noro Silk Garden may be used
- Your square should measure exactly 12" x 12"

The more detailed aspects of the Lizard Ridge project will be posted on the Wooly Bully website shortly.
For those of you with any questions, feel free to contact Glen Oakes or Heather Rubino. Hand outs will also be available at the shop.

This infusion of newness has inspired many of us and we’ve got new projects on the needles. Come by and inspect the new arrivals, enjoy the cool AC, and knit a while!

July Class Schedule

Here and There Cables

Reversible Cabled Scarf

Monday, July 27, 6-8pm, $20 Modeled after the Here and There Cables scarf, this is a perfect project for teaching cable basics. The final product also makes for an impressive gift. This class only meets once! - you must know how to cast on, knit and purl! Thanks to knittingbox for the pic!

Lizard Ridge Square

Lizard Ridge Square

Wednesday, July 22, 6-8 pm, $20 We’ll get you started on your first Lizard Ridge Block - it can be the first installment towards a blanket, a trivet, or make another and you have a pillow! The legendary Lizard Ridge blanket is worked incrementally, block by block. We’ll create the unique, wavy pattern with short rows and changing yarns. After knitting the square it takes on an bumpy, egg crate-like appearance. We’ll practice several blocking techniques which will come in handy for smoothing your Lizard Ridge square and will be helpful with many of your other projects as well. The sample in the shop is knitted with Noro Kureyon, known for their amazing color combos. This pattern really takes advantage of their lengthy color runs too. Thanks to Jessica for sharing your lovely and inspirational work with us! Note: participants must know how to cast on and off, knit and purl.

2 socks on 1 Circular Needle

2 Socks on 1 Circular Needle

Saturdays, July 25, August 1, and August 15 3-5pm, $40 Forever eliminate the scourge of SSS, Second Sock Syndrome! Note: Participants should already familiar with basic sock construction.

Felted Chevron Bag

Monday, July 20 and August 3, 6-8pm, $25 Learn to knit in the round, increase and decrease stitches as you shape your Chevron bag and master the three-needle bind-off in this two-part class. Felting basics will be covered too. Felting will be employed to make this item a little different from regular knits. It’s so forgiving - It will smooth the stitches - and it’s interesting - we love watching the bag transform into something new! This satchel makes for an attractive purse or a durable carryall for your knitting projects. This project is a great opportunity to take advantage of a self-striping yarn to show off the signature Chevron pattern. - This is a good class for knitters wanting to branch out from flat, back and forth knitting. You must know how to cast on, knit and purl.

Felted Chevron Bag

July Block of the Month

Tuesday, July 21, 6-8 pm, $20 I have been so impressed by the Block of the Monthers! We have intrepid beginning knitters, people making multiple blankets, and knitters returning from a Block hiatus to knock out their afghans! If you haven’t yet joined us, there is still a chance for you to get in on the fun. This is a perfect chance to learn a lot of new knitting techniques without getting into several different projects at once.  Come by the shop and let us get you started on some of the blocks you’ve missed. July’s block with feature a Cabled stitch pattern!!!! We can’t wait to see you! You’ll need two skeins of Mission Falls 1824 Wool. Note: we got our shipment in last week so many colors have been replenished!

This summer they’ve introduced a set of interchangeable needles. HiyaHiya Steel Interchangeable Needles feature keyless screw on connections and swivel cables. Sizes range between US #2 (2.75mm) and US #15 (10mm) and available cable lengths of 16, 24, 32, 40 and 60 inches.

Two sets will be available, each retailing for $67.95:

Small Size 2US - 8 US (2.75/5mm)

Can I just brag for a moment?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Dear Bully,

I had a really great experience, recently.  Like all great experiences, it was accomplished with a fair bit of nerves, a lot of mental swearing, and the need for a cold beer and an enchilada afterwards, but that’s the price you pay, you know?

I just taught my first class.  I know!  It was the Grrlfriend Market Bag (Ravelry link).  I’m not going to lie to you, the first hour of the first class was one of the most (as my mother always puts it) character building experiences of my life.  There were a lot of DPNs hitting the floor, is all I’m saying, and a lot of curses muttered under people’s breath. My students were incredibly patient with me, and I did my best to live up to their patience.  I am, shall we say, frequently opinionated about some things.  I had to learn to take a step back and remember to say "well, this is how I did it, but if that’s the way that works for you, then that’s the way you should do it."  I had to rip back some truly impressive tangles.

But you know what?  By the second class, everything was coming together.

It might have helped that the air conditioning was working again, but all of a sudden?  People were actually having fun.  We remembered that we actually like knitting, that we do it because we enjoy it.  That they were taking the class because they wanted to learn something new, and that I actually was there because I wanted to teach it.   Um.  And Marianne was definitely having more fun than most.

These pictures were of the bags that were actually finished that evening, and I hope to get some more to add as some of my other (fantastic) students complete theirs.

(I love how Carol looks like she has the ultimate knitting halo here.)

(Kim looks really proud here, doesn’t she?)

Thanks to all of my wonderful students, who were more patient with me and themselves than I had any right to expect.

Love,

Emily

Classes

Learn to Knit with Erica
Saturday, May 23 and 30, 2-4 pm, $25
Join Erica for this two-part introduction to knitting. This class is perfect for those who want to learn to knit, as well as those who already have some basic knowledge but would like a “refresher” on the subject. You’ll learn about yarn and needle selection, casting on and off, knitting and purling, changing colors and seaming. Your final product with be a cozy pair of fingerless mitts. You’ll leave the class prepared to embark on further knitting adventures.

Kestrel Socks with Erica
Wednesday, May 13, 20, & 27, 6-8 pm, $30
Kestrel is a great sock project for any knitter who has a basic knowledge of sock knitting. If you have created a worsted weight sock in our beginning sock class, then this would be a great next step. During this class you will knit a sock using sock weight yarn on US 2 needles, (either dpns or circulars), whatever you are more comfortable with. You’ll learn to incorporate a basic lace pattern into your sock and how to knit a short row heel. This class is not intended to teach you how to knit socks, you should already have some experience knitting socks before registering for this class.

MAY Block of the Month
Monday, May 18, 6-8 pm, $20
If you haven’t joined the Knit Along, perhaps now is the time. Erica will lead you and your fellow participants in mastering new techniques as you complete a block for your blanket.

Baby Bobbi Bear
Tuesday, May 19 & June 2, 6-8 pm, $25
We’ve loved having our Bobbi Bear in the shop (although this one is a somewhat smaller version). We’ll make his limbs and body using double pointed and circular needles. He’s cleverly constructed so you only have to make two small seams! Although the final Baby Bobbi Bear is approx. 15” in length, this is a quick, fun knitting project. This could become your default knitted present for babies and children (or anyone needing a soft, cuddly friend). This class is appropriate for advanced beginners.

Fisherman’s Lace Wrap

Monday, May 25, 6-8 pm, $15
Learn some basic lace stitches in this one-time class. This class is ideal as a first blush with lace and a very quick project. Make it as a scarf and you’ll finish it even more quickly.

Hope to see you guys in May!

Mulligan

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

It’s happened to all of us.  Hannah posts the class schedule, you look it over, you get excited about a new yarn, you research a pattern (what did we ever do before Ravelry?  You mean I can look at every single picture of every single knitter who’s ever done the Koolhaas, and what yarn they used?)…..but then, you don’t follow up on it.  You mean to call the shop and register, but it’s Sunday, and the shop doesn’t open again until Tuesday, and by Tuesday you can’t even remember what you had for dinner on Sunday, much less that you had something you needed to do.

Or you do call the shop to register, but apparently every other knitter in Tallahassee has beaten you to the punch.  Or you manage to sign up for one of those spots, but something comes up on the day in question, or no one else actually wanted to knit that object (what, are they blind?) so the instructor cancels, or there was this hurricane….

Like I said, we’ve all been there.  Hannah and the rest of the crew have been discussing what classes should be given a second show.  What was really popular at the time, and we need to address the spillover now?  Or maybe you didn’t see the beauty of something when the pattern was first published, but now that you’ve seen it in someone’s project gallery, knitted up in Noro or Silky Tweed, you’re realizing that you absolutely need it.

We’ve thought of a few that people have requested in the past.

The Falling Waters Wrap, for instance.

Or the February Lady Sweater.

What about the gorgeous Little Slip of a Thing bag?

Or the perennial favorite, Saartje’s Booties?

But we need your help.  We know what we think needs a second go-around, but you guys are the ones who are going to be taking the classes.  Do you have an old favorite, or something that needs refreshing, or have you seen something online that you just can’t believe we’ve never offered?  Tell us.  Take the poll, drop us a comment, send us your thought via an email.  We want to hear from you.

APRIL ‘09 WOOLY BULLETIN

As always, thank you for your patronage. You have chosen to support a local, Tallahassee business that strives to deliver quality natural fibers and products you can feel good about using. If you love your purchase, tell someone (or everyone). If you are in any way dissatisfied, please let us know. We are eager to resolve any issues that may arise and are receptive to any suggestions or recommendations you may have. (I know people say this sometimes, but we really mean it.)

We truly appreciate all of the warm wishes you’ve offered since announcing that Wooly Bully will remain open. We’re so pleased that the Bully lives on and we can continue to serve you.

Fondly,

Hannah and the Bully Crew

New things!
Yarn Bowls
Come and see the beautiful yarn bowls crafted by one of the Bully’s cherished friends, Bethany Kocher. Say farewell to tangled yarn. Each bowl has multiple holes and slots to thread your yarn through. A thin layer of cork coats the base of the bowl so it won’t scratch any delicate surfaces or start slipping. Not only an object d’art, your yarn bowl can always double for a salad or fruit bowl if you’re in a pinch. Own a piece of functional art for $35 – (other yarn bells cost upwards of $55)

Stitch Saver Keychain
You know when you’re on the go, knitting to pass the time, and you’ve dropped a stitch. GAAA! We’ve all done it and miles from the nearest crochet hook at home. This is just the little keychain for you. It’s perfect for your notions bag or attached to your project bag (or Easter Basket?). Stitch Savers make great gifts for knitting friends and knitting swaps. Only a few inches long, the stitch saver is portable and convenient. A lobster claw clasp allows you to detach it from your keys for ease of use. Beads and colors will vary. The hooks are available in the following sizes: USC2/2.75mm, USD3/3.25mm, USE4/3.50mm, and USF5/3.75mm. Get one now for $6.

Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock
A box of solids and multis shipped Tuesday. For those of you who haven’t had a Lorna’s experience, the time is now.

Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece
The perfect springtime staple in a ton of colors - 80% cotton for breathability and softness - 20% wool for loft and strength. 100g/215yd for $9.

Mission Falls 1824 Wool
We’re adding the rest of the palette and it’s shipped! Block of the Month-er’s, eat your heart out! This is our favorite 100% superwash wool.

Plymouth Happy Feet
Ravelry members will be familiar with our enthusiasm for this yarn.  We love its squishiness, its softness, and especially the price!   We’re expecting about 12 colors any day - lots of manly colorways! Only $6 per 50g skein - come and peruse!

A fun activity
Put your yarn scraps to work!
Spring is the start of the breeding season for most of our North American birds. They pair up with mates, build nests, lay eggs, raise young, and then some of them repeat the cycle – as many as three times. There are some things that you can do to assist your backyard birds at this busy time of year. Put out short pieces of yarn, fiber, and string, offered in an onion bag, small basket, or suet cages. Orioles, some sparrows, and robins, among others, build woven nests. You can encourage nest-building behavior by providing pieces of yarn about 2 inches long (any longer and they could get tangled in it). You may wish to offer other materials to the birds, dog fur, roving, etc. but you must observe this cardinal rule (pun intended): do not give dryer lint to the birds. Not only can it contain chemicals, should it become wet, the material takes a very, very long time to dry out.

C’est voila! (note: cat is indoors, not eating birds)

Does it work? Behold the evidence! See the pink yarn (look lower right)?!

Calling all Crocheters! - A note from Shari
I’ve got something fun planned for next month! You’ve probably seen the Babette blanket, right? The amazing Kathy Merrick made this with seventeen colors of sock yarn! Yeah… We’re not doing that.

alt text

Instead, I’ve designed a beautiful mosaic blanket and reduced the intimidation factor by choosing only ten colors of the fabulously affordable, Florida-friendly worsted weight Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece. I’ve taken to calling it “The Bobette Blanket” in honor of all the lessons I learned designing and making the Bob’s My Man Afghan (see below). If you know the very basics of crochet or have taken my Learn to Crochet class, you have all the skills you need for this project.

alt text

During the first class, I’ll show you the basics for how to make the block motif and give you the map for planning out your blanket. The second class is optional. In it, we’ll go over design and color balance. We’ll have charts, colored pencils and lots of enthusiasm and advice! Bobette will have very exact instructions, but it’s also the perfect project for you free-spirited crocheters to customize. And, should your budget or your energy run low at any point along the way, it can easily be made into a pillow or a baby blanket.

During the rest of the year, we’ll set aside a couple hours every month that we can all get together at Wooly Bully and crochet (gratis, of course). Watch everyone’s colorful pile of blocks grow, share color theories and tips, or use the time as a way to make sure you keep progressing.
There is a one-time fee of $25 for the two classes and the pattern.
Saturdays, April 25th and May 2nd, 11am-1pm

(we are hoping to make the pattern available soon for purchase for those unable to attend the initial workshops)

You must call the shop at 850.224.2855 (BULL) to sign up for a class!

Mother’s Day Shawl

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Head’s up!    We’re giving you guys a sneak peak at what the April class calendar is going to hold, a whole three weeks early!

alt text

Q: Have any of you decided what you’re getting your Mother for Mother’s Day?

A: No? (And I’m sure some are of you are wondering, “Mother’s Day?! When is Mother’s Day?”)

As per tradition, this April we will be offering a Mother’s Day shawl class. It’s an excellent opportunity for learning lace work. You will also have a final product suitable for gifting - a shawl that will surely be cherished by the lucky recipient. This year we have chosen the beautiful Revontuli Shawl (Ravelry link) or “Northern Lights” Shawl.

alt text

The class starts at the beginning of the month to allow for adequate time to complete your Revontuli before Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10th.

Class will meet three times for a one-time of cost of $40:
Wednesday, April 1st, 6-8pm
Wednesday, April 8th, 6-8pm
Wednesday, April 22nd, 6-8pm

Stop by the shop to see Shari’s Revontuli knit up in the silky, drape-y Araucania Ruca.

alt text

My Goodness, Shari’s is so beautiful that it seriously made me stop and gasp.  It feels wonderful knit into the shawl. Smooth and cool and with a certain amount of heft.

alt text

Erica has some fantastic ways to help you keep it simple, and still understand what you’re looking at when it comes to lace. That’s always been the hardest part for beginning lace knitters.   Once you can interpret what you’re looking at on the row below, it makes following the pattern SO much easier!

You’ll learn how to do a left leaning decrease, a right leaning decrease (SSK and K2tog), and yarn overs but the pattern also allows for lots of places for your brain and your hands to rest between learning the new skills.

And once you’ve mastered these basics, you can apply them to all those fun lacy sock and scarf patterns out there!
